Sally S. Weeks received a bachelor of science degree in forestry, specializing in wildlife management, and a master of science degree in forestry from the Purdue University Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, where she has taught aspects of tree, shrub, and plant identification for nearly twenty-five years.

George R. Parker is professor emeritus of forest ecology from Purdue's Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, where he studied various characteristics of old growth forests.
