Livestock and poultry manure is a byproduct that can be a valuable resource - or a liability if not managed and utilized appropriately. This is the second of a series of publications: Manure Management, Treatment, and Utilization. It provides updated and research-based knowledge and experiences for producers, crop growers, Extension educators and specialists, and other stakeholders. Some highlights in this publication include 1. manure characteristics and examples of their temporal and spatial variations; 2. manure testing and a list of 77 manure testing laboratories in the U.S. and Canada; 3. design considerations for manure sampling; and 4. various tools and approaches for liquid and solid manure sampling.
