Description

This is a digital product (PDF format) that will be available for immediate download upon purchase.

This curriculum includes ten lessons that are designed to help low-income adults improve their diet quality, food security, and family food safety. Topics include understanding MyPlate and food labels, food safety using the Fight BAC! guidelines, and family meal planning and preparation. The lessons are best suited for groups of five to 10, but included notes allow for adaptation for individual sessions and smaller groups. An informal setting is recommended, and a small kitchen facility would be convenient for recipe demonstrations. All handouts and recipes are provided in English (Spanish also available). Educators should plan 30-45 minutes for each lesson if all recommended activities and materials are covered. 152 pages. NOTE: Some lessons anticipate that the facilitator will show segments of the following DVDs, which are all sold separately:

  • What's on MyPlate? (HHS-780-DVD, used in six of ten lessons);
  • Nutrition Facts: Reading Labels Makes Sense (DVD-CFS-12-185, used in one lesson); and
  • Serve Up Safety: Food Safety Tips for Families (DVD-CFS-753, used in one lesson).

Purchases of ePubs and eBooks are nonrefundable. For more information, read our ePub/Book FAQs.
